First Layout "Do-Over" with Graphic 45

Graphic 45 gave the DT an interesting challenge...share our first scrapbook layout and then share how we would re-create it using Graphic 45 papers and embellishments. It's my turn to share on the Graphic 45 Blog, so here goes!

This is one of the first layouts I made when I started scrapbooking in 1996. Note the use of large die cut shapes and random stickers. I also use some ill-composed snapshots of the "new baby." I sort of cringe when I see these old pages! That baby die cut with the name written on the booty. Really? What was I thinking?! My daughter said, "Oh, Mom, please don't show that to anyone! It's a horrible layout!" I said right back, "Hey, it's your baby book!"

Here is my "do-over" page layout. I really don't make very many double-page spreads any more, nor do I use many photos per layout. I am the queen of one-photo layouts!

I used the Graphic 45 Little Darlings Collection and a studio portrait of Laura at 18 months. I could not find any suitable baby photos as I scrapped them all, and she was born before the digital photo age! I did use a few random butterflies, but no random stickers this time!

I like to tuck things in with flowers. Here I used the new Graphic 45 key and keyhole Staples, plus some of the chipboards and stickers. I don't like a lot of "white space" on my page layouts and prefer to use a lot of printed paper and clumps of embellishments. I have really changed my style in the past 16 years!

Graphic 45 papers:
Little Darlings Peek-A-Boo, Rock-A-Bye, Heaven Sent, cardstock stickers, chipboard shapes

Graphic 45 Staples:
Metal Key, Metal Keyhole

Die cuts: My Favorite Things Fishtail Flag Stax; Spellbinders Asian Accents border
Flowers: Petaloo, Wild Orchid Crafts
Doily: craft store
Tools: Martha Stewart butterfly punch, Spellbinders Grand Calibur
Adhesive: Scotch 3M tape; Heidi Swapp Scrappy Glue

  6. Did you come over to my house and steal my pages? My sons 1997 CM pages look a lot like that! I remember the fear and trepidation I had when I began to use DP all over the page!! Amazing how much Scrapbooking has evolved! Beautiful do-over!

  9. Oh, I feel so much better! I started scrapbooking in 2004, using nothing but Creative Memories pages (didn't put anything over them at all, adhered and wrote directly on the pages), with corners and borders. Then I branched out into stickers, and then some *gasp* metal embellishments. Sometimes I like the simplicity of my early pages, but my son recently made the "You've come a long way" comment, so I'm sticking with the "new" techniques and methods (which seem to change constantly); sometimes it's hard to keep up!
