Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge #154

It is time for the weekly Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge.

The Shining Light Challenge ODBDSLC154 is to make a project that incorporates wood or stone.

This challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to drag out my wood-grain embossing folder and the Quote Collection 1 stamp set (that I had not yet inked up).

To create the wood background, I inked the embossing folder with brown chalk ink, then embossed the paper. This is a great way to emboss and ink at the same time. I love the soft look of the ink, and the way the ink "settles" in the grain of the wood.

I stamped the sentiment with watermark ink, then embossed with green embossing powder. In the bottle the powder looked dark green, but after it was embossed, it turned out a more spruce green, which was perfect for the pine trees.

I got a great impression with the folder and the WorldWin ColorMates Smooth cardstock. I never use smooth cardstock except for stamping....until I got two huge boxes of the smooth from WorldWin for DT work! I love this paper!

I also stamped on the inside of the card, using a sentiment from the Mini Tags 3 set. Unfortunately, I could not find a "spruce green" ink in my stash, and I had already glued the paper to the inside of the card, meaning I did not want to heat emboss as that can tend to buckle the paper. (Yes, that was a big ole run-on sentence!) I ended up using a mossy green ink, and I tied it all together with the strip of paper at the bottom, which has both shades of green. (whew)
