Hampton Art Steampunk Birthday

This project was shown on the Hampton Art Blog on Tuesday, but I saved it for my blog for today...because today is my brother Richard's 56th birthday today! I hope he has a great day! I guess this card could be for a guy or a gal....

I am a huge fan of steampunk images. I love the mix of grunge and metal and femininity.

To create the stamped and embossed panel on the front of this card you only need an embossing folder, a few stamps, and some ink. What could be easier? Notice...zero printed paper! I used all fabulous WorldWin Papers cardstock!

I used several metallic inks to add color directly to the stamp by tapping the surface of the stamp with the ink pads. I don't worry too much about my ink pads getting messy or mixing the ink. It's just ink...  I stamped the dress form image onto kraft cardstock. I love this WorldWin kraft.

Allow the ink to dry and then emboss the kraft cardstock with an embossing folder. I did stamp the image BEFORE I embossed the paper because I wanted to have the stamped image "behind" the raised embossing. Rub the raised surfaces with brown chalk ink.The very cool Couture Creations folder, is called Uber. There are several folders on the market with gears or clocks or other "steampunky" images. This is a new one to my collection.

I then used metallic inks to stamp the gear images onto the cardstock.  I overlapped the raised embossing and the main stamped image. I trimmed the panel to size and used it to create a card.

I used other stamps to decorate the inside of the card to match.

Hope you had some steampunk fun here today! Leave a comment! Today is the last day to win my Couture Creations prize pack! I will draw the winner from the comments on one of my August 1-8th posts, and announce the winner when I get back from vacation on the 19th!
