Heartfelt Creations Wednesday - Berry Birthday Card

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday! I am continuing to work with the new August Release, Farmers Market. And yes, I want to put an apostrophe in there somewhere and make it either Farmer's Market or Farmers' Market...but I digress. I used the berry images for today's card. Nothing says summer like fresh, ripe berries. Unless it is fresh sweet corn or fresh-picked watermelon...but I digress...is that re-digress? {grin}

I wanted to add glitter to the berries, but once the Stickles were dry, they changed the color of the berries, depending on how the light captures them. I now have psychedelic berries! I did not do any fancy stamping on this project because I wanted to showcase the papers. If you buy a 12x12 paper pad, you know how long it can last! You can get a ton of projects from one pad. It is always nice to see more ideas for using up that paper, right?! (Speaking of using it up, there are only 10 more days until the Craft Hoarders Anonymous September Blog Hop! Mark your calendars for September 5th!)

To create this 5" x 6" card, start by trimming black cardstock to 5" x 12". Score at 6" on the long side to make a 5" x 6" top-fold card. Cut purple text paper from the Butterfly Medley Paper Collection to 4 7/8" x 5 7/8" and attach to the card front.

Trim berry print paper from the Farmers Market Paper Collection to 4 3/8" x 5 3/8" and mat with black cardstock cut to 4 1/2" x 5 1/2".

Wrap 7/8" purple ribbon and white lace around the bottom of the panel and attach at the back. Use foam adhesive to attach the panel to the card front. Glue a purple button to the left side of the ribbon. Tie a bow from purple and white twine and glue to the top of the button.

Use the large rounded square die from the Cut Mat Create 2A Die set to trim out the berries image from the Farmers Market Paper Collection. Cut black cardstock cut to 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" and round the corners. Mat the berries image with the black cardstock and attach the image to the center of the card front with foam adhesive.

Here is a tip for you: To round the corners of the black cardstock, I used an old Creative Memories corner rounder, rather than the EK Success rounder that I normally use. I did this because the old model CM rounder has a more "shallow" corner, which matches the corners of the die. I have the old, original CM corner rounder, and by old, I mean I purchased it in 1997 or 1998!

Use the ticket stub die from the Luggage and Tags Die set to cut the sentiment ticket from the Farmers Market Paper Collection. Attach the ticket to the lower right corner of the image using foam adhesive.

Apply Star Dust Stickles to each of the berries in the image. Allow to dry completely.

Decorate the inside of the card by cutting white cardstock to 4 7/8" x 5 7/8". Attach a 1 3/4" x 4 7/8" strip of the berry print paper to the bottom edge of the white cardstock. Use pigment inks to color the small raspberry swirl stamp from the Berries and Peaches Cling Stamp Set. Tap the inks directly onto the stamp and then press the stamp to the paper. Stamp the sentiment onto the cardstock with black ink. Attach the white panel to the inside of the card.

  2. Gloria, you are too funny! I love your psychedelic berries and the way they shimmer! Love the ribbon treatment on this card as well! (And, for the record, you're not the only one trying to add in the apostrophe for the Farmers Market...I have to keep going back and editing it myself! LOL)
