Hello, card and coloring fans! This is my very first post as part of the Power Poppy Instant Gardeners Team! I am giddy with happiness!
The Power Poppy Teams (Instant Gardeners AND Bloom Brigade) are having a blog hop Nov 20th through Dec 2nd! Stay tuned for a Black Friday Sale, a Cyber Monday sale, and even a small business sale! Not to mention...maybe a little surprise!
Today, we are showcasing the Poinsettia clear stamp set and the Poinsettia and Pomegranates digital image!
The clear stamp version comes with two images and four sentiments! If you love to have an actual stamp set in your hands, give this lovely set a try!
This beautiful image comes with two sentiments to download! The beauty of digital images is that you can re-size them, flip them, alter them, and more! Plus, storage is easy! If you need help working with digital images, check out THIS amazing tutorial by Julie!
I have both of these sets in my stash. (I know, but in my defense, the clear set came out first and I HAD to have it!) I used the digital version of the poinsettia and the clear version of the sentiments.
I have colored this poinsettia and pomegranates image a number of times, and it is still fun to color and always turns out stunningly! I created an 8" tall by 6" wide card with my image. I know, it's a big large for a card. But....I really love a big ol' card!
I printed the image onto white cardstock (I use Hammermill 100# Digital Color Copy cardstock for most coloring projects.) I then put down a layer of Copic color for the flower, in shades of gray. After the ink dried, I went back over the flower with Prismacolor colored pencils. The soft pinks and grays of the pencils really made this image pop!
I repeated the process for the pomegranates, putting down a layer of red Copic colors, then going back with the pencil to add shadow and highlight. The pine needles are pencil only, and the pomegranate leaves are Copic marker only.
I used some pale blue colored pencils to shade around the image. The reason my sentiment is on a little banner is because I tried to stamp onto the main image and the wax from the colored pencil resisted the ink! I totally forgot that would happen! I am so used to coloring with markers that I just did not even think! So...I had to re-stamped a sentiment from the Poinsettia clear set onto a piece of cardstock and add it over the "wrecked" sentiment! WHEW! Crises averted!
I trimmed the bottom edge of the image with a stitched die and then matted it with some hot pink cardstock. I created a black card base (8" x 6") and used some fun papers, pulling the colors from my image. I added some twine (gold and candy cane striped) and a matching button.
Thanks for looking! Now, hop on to the other designers to see what they made!
