Power Poppy Quiet Christmas Release - Day 9

Welcome to Day 9 of the Power Poppy Quiet Christmas stamp release! As I type this, I am sitting here in fuzzy socks and a hoodie listening to Christmas carols on Spotify...because it's freezing here! And by freezing I mean 65 degrees F. That is freezing in so. Cal. people!

We are enjoying this chilly weather because it makes us feel like the holidays are approaching! We are transplants from the northeast coast, and then lived a while in the upper Midwest...so we still think winter is weird here even after 15 years!

Now, on to the project! Today we are showcasing Cuddle in the Cabin.
This is the closest to a snowy winter's night that I will get here in San Diego! But, I remember all the freezing days and nights from when I was living back east and in the upper Midwest! Brrrrr! I can smell the cold when I look at this stamp set! {Yes, "cold" has a smell!)

You all know that making stamp scenes is normally not my "thing." It's difficult and fussing around with masks and such makes me crazy! But...I am always game to try stuff! And, first this scene is just one stamp, no masking needed! Second, since the team only had the digital versions it was easy for me to plop the main image and a sentiment onto the paper and print! Ta-da!
With the Photoshop Elements software it was easy to set the image to a soft gray line art and the sentiment to black. I printed onto white cardstock and colored with Copics. I added a bit of pencil to some areas, just for some deeper shadows, and to make a "fog" around the moon.

I colored the background with Copics, and then I had to use fine line pens to draw the tree branches back in (on the right side). I wasn't totally happy with the background, so I used a blender brush to add some Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac distress ink to the edges.
After all the ink had dried, I used a paint brush to flick some gouache paint for snow. I also used the gouache to paint some of the snow drifts and such for a more natural feel. The paint and the lilac ink look fantastic in person, but it is not picking up well in the photo.

I created a dark blue 6" x 6" card and added a panel of Authentique Frosted paper (snowflake print). I die cut the image with a square stitched die and matted it with dark blue cardstock.

I rustled up a snowflake die out of my stash and cut one out of silver glitter cardstock to embellish the corner of the card. I topped the snowflake with some sparkly twine and a "diamond" gem! Very cold and frosty!
I have to tell you, i am super proud of this card! It is really FAR outside my comfort zone! And I almost gave up twice! I am so happy that I just kept going! I love everything about the finished project!
