Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon November Blog Hop

You should be coming to my blog from Ginny's Blog After visiting me hop on to Kathy's Blog next! (The full blog list is at the end of the post.)

At the end of the hop, comment on the RRR Blog post, answering the question listed, for a chance to win the November Ribbon Club Assortment shown below. The Design Team appreciates your comments, too!
The November Ribbon Club is called Precious Metals. I love those gold and bronze tones! So pretty for Thanksgiving and Christmas cards! And while I do need to make a lot more Christmas cards, I decided to make a Thanksgiving/Autumn themed card instead.
I am still on a mission to use up some of the VAST paper hoard that I have in my possession! Folks, you have no idea the vastness of this paper and cardstock hoard. It is massive, and this is AFTER purging it before I moved in August 2021. As you know, it does not take much paper to make a card, so this "use it up" business is slow going! {smile}

Some of this paper has been in my "collection" for years of years. Some I have no clue of the brand. Some things are odds and ends that I tossed into a basket! So, if you wish to recreate this card, good luck! Go to your own stash and just....shop your stash! {giggle}
This card is a 6" x 6" which is such a great size to work with, but this size always requires extra postage! I made the card base and all the mat layers from metallic cardstock. I chose some different printed papers so this can be a fall birthday card or a Thanksgiving card, depending on the inside message.
I used an orphan chipboard element from...I think the Graphic 45 Children's Hour collection. The sparkly bow is made from 3/8" Old Gold Satin with Gold Metallic Edges. That ribbon goes beautifully with that rusty bell.

The larger bow is made up of scraps of the 3/8" Old Gold Satin with Gold Metallic Edges tucked under a large bow made from the 5/8" Old Gold Checkerboard Satin ribbon. I also tucked in some bows made from the Antique Gold and Natural Burlap String.
I topped the bow with a gold flower from the Open Rose Mixed Christmas Colors Assortment. (I think this is the 10 mm size flower.)  I also pawed through my button hoard and found some gold/brown buttons to add to the mix! I love buttons, but I have been so interested in using enamel dots and sequins lately that I forget to look at my buttons!

That is my inspiration for this month, now, hop over to Kathy's Blog to see what she has for you!

  1. You definitely nailed it with using those bits from you extensive paper stash! Cute to challenge us to use our stashes (mine is limited and I ache to have one like yours). I love the ribbons, which make everything wonderfully cohesive. But my major takeaway is your selection of paper pattern/colors you selected. That I struggle with that and hope one day to get that "Ah, Ah" moment when it becomes second nature to me too. Great job!

    1. Thank you for the lovely comment! I have tried to help people in the past with picking patterns, and there are some "rules" I keep in mind, but you are correct in that is is 95% just a natural, eye-pleasing selection that "just happens" for me. ;)

    1. I DO have a massive stash. I have worked for so many years for so many companies, plus spent all my extra funds on even more paper! I have so much, even after culling it last year. I need to keep using it and only buy paper for a specific project or if it is is truly one of a kind! {easier said, right?!?}
