Welcome to Day 5 of the Power Poppy Christmas Remix Hop! If you missed any of the previous days, please visit the Power Poppy Blog! I am not participating in every day of the release, so make sure you go take a look at what the rest of the girls are doing with all these fantastic images!
The theme for the hop today is FAVORITE HOLIDAY SET. I chose this gorgeous image from the Ultimate Poinsettia Digital Stamp set, which is also available as a clear set called
I cannot color enough poinsettias! I love them. One of the nearby plant nurseries always has loads of poinsettias, in every color you can imagine, in their greenhouses.I love to just go and look at them!
I love a rustic, country decorating vibe, and I took my color inspiration from the rusty jingle bell! But I admit that I am second guessing that purple center for the Anemones! I printed my image onto Stampin' Up Whisper White cardstock and colored it entirely with Prismacolor pencils! You heard that right...no Copics this time! (See the colors in the supply list below.) I am having a BLAST with my colored pencils! And I am thinking of adding another brand or type of pencil to my stash! Don't get me wrong, I still love my Copic markers, but I like the end result I get with pencils alone or when I add pencil to my markers.
The paper took the pencil very well, which surprised me. I expected it to give me some issues because it is quite smooth cardstock. But the Prismas went on perfectly and I was able to get some great blends and shading!
The sentiment is from a clear set called Holly Golightly, which I stamped with black ink onto a scrap of cardstock. I added some gel pen dots around the sentiment.
Of course I had to decorate the inside! The Santa image is from a clear set called Under Glass: Christmas Traditions. I stamped the image in grey ink to give it a more rustic feel.
You will be pleased to note that this card is a standard notecard size! I did place the sentiment a bit off the edge, so it still won't fit into an A2 envelope! Oh, well!
Thanks for looking! I hope this Hop is inspiring you to start on some of your own cards! The Power Poppy Team has been pulling out all the stops to make these images sing! Now, hop on to the other designers to see what they made!
