Christian Paper Crafts Sketch Tuesday 117

Today is Sketch Tuesday at Christian Paper Crafts. It's still hard to believe that we only do a sketch every 6 weeks! I'm so used to doing them every week! Here is the sketch:

I like lots of layers so that I can use up my printed papers! Ok, "use up" is never going to happen! It's my fantasy, let me live it! Here is my card. Another summer-time themed card.

I used Cosmo Cricket papers again. I have over 100 pads of 6x6, 8x8, and 9x9 paper pads in my stash, yet I am always buying more. I buy far more of the small pads than I do 12x12 paper these days. I think the low cost of the pad lulls me in! It's all in the evil plan of those paper manufacturers! I'll pretend I don't notice! {grin}

The cute bicycle stamp is from Gina K, colored with Copics. This reminds me of my childhood banana bike - only my bike was purple!

I hope you enjoy the sketch! I will have the September CropStop sketch for you on the 1st, so come on back and visit!

Supply List:
Cardstock: Bazzill, Neenah
Designer paper: Cosmo Cricket Social Club
Stamps: Gina K Enjoy the Sunshine
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers
Embellishments: Ric rac

Summer Home Decor from Graphic45

Some of you folks may be winding down your summer fun and getting ready to start school. Some of your children may have already started, like mine. Some of you may still have summer temperatures. For us the hottest months are yet to come as here on the coast we normally get our hottest weather in the fall, when the winds blow from the desert rather than from the water. No matter what phase of summer you are in, I hope you enjoy this wall hanging I created!

I used Spellbinders™ Grand Nestabilities® Labels Twenty-three to create the base for my project. I used the die template to cut several layers of chipboard, then I cut one layer of Graphic45 Le Cirque Bohemian Floral paper to cover the chipboard. The largest label is 8⅜ x 6⅝" and makes a perfect canvas for an altered art piece! (To see a larger view, click on the photo!)

I used more of the Le Cirque papers to create flowers and other elements on the canvas. Center stage are the two bathing beauties from the On the Boardwalk collection!

I love to create my own flowers, and pairing up Spellbinders die templates and Graphic45 paper is a wonderful way to do that! The thickness and texture of the paper is so easy to work with. (For a list of the die templates I used, see the supply list below.)

What says summer more than lazy butterflies? I decorated each butterfly with pearls and the largest one with wire antennae!

The "hot" summer letters are cut from Bazzill cardstock using the Donna's Alphas die set. Very fun!

I hope you still have enough summer mojo to create something before you begin your fall projects! I have one more summer project to show you tomorrow for the Christian Paper Crafts sketch!

Cosmo Cricket Sketch

Y'all know how I love me a sketch, right? Well, I was blog surfing the other day, and found myself at the Cosmo Cricket Blog. And you further know that I really like their papers, so...imagine my joy when I saw they had a sketch contest going! You have to make a card to match this sketch, which is by Debbie Olson, whose work I love!

Anyway, you are supposed to make a card, post it to your blog, link to the Cosmo Blog, and you have a chance to win a pub in Cards Magazine! How could I pass that up?!

Here is the card I made, using Social Club, Togetherness, and The Boyfriend papers.

I thought I'd make a first day of school card, for some reason. My kids started school August 15th, but sadly my poor, neglected homeschooled kids did not get back-to-school cards! (Debbie homeschools her son, too...but I bet HE got a card!) Check out the fabbie scalloped edge! That's a NEW Spellbinders Edgeabilities die set called Classic Scallop.

The stamps I used are from Unity, called Learning Year by Year, which is one of their store kits. It's a great set for scrapbooking, but works for cards, too.

I hope you get a chance to play along with Cosmo Cricket, too! Have a nice weekend! Make something crafty!

Supply List:
Cardstock: Stampin' Up Basic Black, Very Vanilla
Designer paper: Cosmo Cricket Social Club, Togetherness, The Boyfriend 6x6 pads

Die templates: Spellbinders™ Edgeabilities® Classic Scallop (E8-001), Spellbinders Nestabilities® Labels Four Small (S4-309), Labels Four (S4-190), Labels One Small (S4-308), Labels One (S4-161)

365 Cards Vintage Week Continues!

Vintage Week is wrapping up at 365 Cards! I am so happy Pam asked me to sponsor this week! I've missed playing along with the gals (and guys) at the 365 Challenge Blog! There are not enough hours in the day right now, and I do miss playing in challenges and chatting with my cyber peeps!

At any rate, I finished the week! Here are the last three cards! For Day 170, which was Vintage Plus Blue: I am not really sure this is vintage, but I had colored this stamp the other night and really wanted to use her for the blue day. I paired her with vintage prints and hope for the best!

I sponged some chalk ink around the image, and got a bit heavy-handed on the one side...so pretend you don't notice! That fab-tastic border is made with the NEW Spellbinders Edgeabilities dies!

This cute stamp is from Penny Black. I have not purchased any Penny Black stamps in a long time and was really happy to find some cute ladies and children stamps recently!

For Day 172, which was Vintage Plus Green...I had some troubles. I told you the other day that green is NOT my "go to" color! But, using green and gray together worked out pretty well! (Did you notice: I decided to go with a "skinny girl dress" theme for today?!)

I stamped and fussy cut the dress, then added some shading with Copics.

I had some sparkly silver ribbon, just a tiny bit left over from another project...and it was perfect for this card!

For Day 173, we were to do Vintage Plus Yellow. Yellow is another color I almost never use. But this Authentique paper is so pretty that I grabbed it right away for this card!

The gray, black, kraft and yellow combo seems to work pretty well for a vintage card. Plus I stamped a ticket and cut it out. Nothing says vintage to me like tickets!

The flowers are from Prima, and I also found some yellow baker's twine in my stash the other day. Really Reasonable Ribbon has this really great assortment, so I snagged it a while back, and promptly forgot I had it. It's fun to shop your stash! Never know what you'll find!  Yum!

Remember: I am drawing a winner for the 365 Cards Vintage Week - for the prize shown HERE - later in the week. I want to give you all time to make a comment on the August 14-20 posts here on the blog. Also, to win the prize I've donated to 365 Cards, make sure you link up your cards to the BLOG.

Guest Designer for....

One of my favorite crafty things to buy is ribbon. After paper and stamps, I probably buy ribbon the most often. I have a huge stash, but am always buying more! Buying ribbon locally can get expensive, so I've done some research into online sites for feeding my habit.

One of my favorite online places to buy ribbon is Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Not only are the prices...really reasonable, but Bonnie is a doll. There is also Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings, which is the store blog with challenges and give aways. For a while I played the challenges every week, and won the Top Three badge a few times and even won the Challenge once! Which led to Bonnie asking me to Guest DT last winter. Well, she's asked me again to Guest DT for a day in September! How cool is that?!

So keep any eye out for September 22nd! I'll be revealing a few NEW cards, with ribbon as the star!

365 Cards Day 171 - Vintage Plus Pink

Well, I have made 4 out of 5 cards so far for the 365 Cards Vintage Week! I still have to do yesterday's, which was Vintage Plus Blue. As soon as Pam told me about the challenges, I knew what to make for today's challenge! I am in love with this pink and gray paper from Authentique called Uncommon. I snagged a 6x6 pad at my LSS when it first came in. (I know, it's not Graphic45, but it's pretty anyway!)

I used black cardstock to make all the paper pop. The border is from Spellbinders (LF-002 Creative Book Pages Two) and all the chipboard items are from Maya Road. I inked all the chippies with black Clearsnap ink, except for the needle which I inked with Clearsnap silver pigment ink.

I covered the dress form with paper and trim. I used some twine for the ribbon spool and needle. I think I got that from Really Reasonable Ribbon. They have a nice assortment pack. To create the "fabric swatches" I cut the paper with Spellbinders Postage Stamps die templates. The other fun thing I did was to hang the sentiment off the little chipboard hanger!

Well, there you have it - Vintage Plus Pink!

Remember - I am giving away a prize pack to one lucky commenter this week! Leave a comment on any post August 14-20 and I'll draw one name to win this prize:

The Magic of Oz - Card Bonanza!

Good morning, blogger buddies! It's another heavy marine layer morning here on the So. California coast. We are still waiting for summer to arrive! I think we've only had a few days that got anywhere near 80 degrees! I am worried that October will be like the inside of an oven! For the first year in the six years we've lived here I feel they did not lie when they advertised that the coast would be pretty much 75 degrees every day!

To pass the gloomy mornings, I've been spending some time coloring with Copics. The NEW Graphic45/Hampton Art stamps are PERFECT for coloring! Today I want to show you some cards from the Magic of Oz line! (Make sure you stop by the Graphic45 Blog because they are always having some sort of drawing or contest!) All of these cards were at Summer CHA. My stuff "gets around"! {giggle}

I used the Magic of Oz 1 stamp set and colored the Cowardly Lion. This is my favorite stamp set in the Oz line. Look how cute he is!

I colored Mr. Lion with Copics, of course! I also had a chance to use the NEW Spellbinders Edgeabilities die templates to create that fabbie border! I chose a Classic Scallop Edger and Decorative Insert to match the Lacey Circles die template!

I made the flower from Graphic45 Flower Staples and a Button Staple. I inked the flowers to match the paper, then curled the petals. And do you LOVE the Poppy Fields paper?!

Next up I have two cards using the Scarecrow. The first one I made for Graphic45 and the second one I made for the Hampton Arts summer supplement catalog. The cards are very similar, but...different. {grin}

I have to confess that green is not one of my "go-to" colors. But this emerald is stunning. It always makes me think of my older brother Larry. His favorite color is emerald green. I used some of the Graphic45 trim and another Button Staple to decorate the top of the card.

I love using the Spellbinders Labels Four templates, I have the small, regular, and grand sizes! Oh happy days! For the next card, I used all three sizes!

Another thing I love about stamping and using Spellbinders dies, is that I can ink through the template. I used Clearsnap inks and....WOW! What a great look I got! Mr. Scarecrow just pops off the page!

I used some Clearsnap Smooch Spritz to dye my seam binding. I just drop some binding in a box, spray the stuffing out of it, and let it dry. It's all sparkly and pretty!

Next up is a card with the Tin Man. (I have to apologize for my photography. I've been having some camera issues and I am getting some very washed out images!)

So, do you love him?! The black and gray combo is so masculine. This will be a great manly birthday card!

I used The Magic of Oz 3 stamp set for the next card. I guess that's the Scarecrow hiding in that pumpkin head...

More coloring with Copics, and then adding Clearsnap ink for a background. The pale gray is fab!

I used the Smooch Spritz to dye the ribbon. I made the flower by cutting the paper with a die template, then adding a bingo number.

WHEW! That's a lot of cards for one day! Hope you enjoyed this Magic of Oz stamp bonanza! I want to enter the Lion card and the Tin Man card into the 365 Cards Challenges for Monday (vintage plus red) and Tuesday (vintage plus black).

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Raven, Walnut Cream; Neenah Classic Natural White

365 Cards Vintage Week!

Hello, card making friends! This week I am sponsoring the 365 Cards Challenge Blog! Last year, I gave Pam some Graphic45 prizes to give away on the blog, and she found one that had gone into hiding! So, she asked me if I'd sponsor again and play along this week! YAY! The prize you can win is this mini album kit with Graphic45 A Proper Gentleman papers! Check the 365 Blog for details on how to win!

Cool right?! As an added bonus, I will draw a name from all of my comments this week to win a prize pack of MORE Graphic45 goodies! Just leave a comment on ANY post this week, August 14-20 here on my blog and you have a chance to win!

Since today is Sunday, it's Sketch Day at 365 Cards. The theme this week is...VINTAGE PLUS. So for today, it's Vintage, plus the sketch! Here is Pam's sketch. (ETA: Seems you don't have to do Vintage with the sketch...just do the sketch.)

It's been a long time since I had a chance to play with any of Pam's sketches. It's nice to see she did not drink any of her "special coffee" and gave me a pretty easy one! Here is my card:

I used all Graphic45 An ABC Primer papers and stamps! I have just a few scraps of this paper left from the set G45 sent me to make CHA projects. I am waiting (so impatiently) for my next DT box to get MORE of this paper! This is my NEW favorite line!!

I stamped an image from the An ABC Primer 2 stamp set (a joint effort between G45 and Hampton Art Stamps). I colored the image with Copics.

Make sure you check back this week as I plan to play along with 365 Cards all week. I may not get my cards posted every day, but I will make 7 cards this week!

Christian Paper Crafts Goes "Back to School"

On the 15th of each month Christian Paper Crafts opens the Design Team Delights private gallery for all Super Sisters and King’s Daughters subscription holders. The gallery is filled each month with projects created by the design team and special guests. These projects are exclusive to the Design Team Delights Gallery, so join us today and don’t miss a thing!

However, each month some of the DT show sneak peeks, called Gracious Glimpses to get you excited for the upcoming Design Team Delights gallery. The theme for August is “Back to School”. We’ve stretched the theme this month to include all kinds of learning, books, and knowledge…there are so many possibilities in these categories!

I have to tell you that I don't put things in the gallery due to my other design team obligations, but I do make a sneak peek each month (well, most months!). So, here is my Gracious Glimpse for August!

I used the NEW Graphic45 An ABC Primer papers and stamps to make a card. This can be a thank you card for a favorite teacher or be used to show your child how much you appreciate his/her hard work!

My two younger kids are still homeschooled (starting 11th and 6th grades on Monday!), and my oldest is a sophomore in college. So, we are still in "school mode" around here 10 months out of the year!

I used some of the fabbie new Graphic45 chipboard items. I love this new paper line and the addition of chipboard!

I hope you enjoy making some schoolish items this fall! Try to remember the teachers who give so much to your kids. And if you have a friend who homeschools, keep mind...maybe no one remembers HER! Send her a note to tell her she's appreciated!

ETA: CropStop Challenge 32 is Back to School, so I am entering this card in that also.
Supply List:
Cardstock: Bazzill, Stampin' Up!

NEW Spellbinders Die Templates!

Hey there, peeps! (If you are looking for the Graphic45/Want2Scrap Blog Hop scroll down.) I haven't had much of a chance to share my Spellbinders projects here on my blog, but this one is up in the new Spellbinders Gallery...so I can share it with you!

This page layout was at the Spellbinders CHA Summer 2011 booth and uses some of the NEW die templates! (S5-058 Ironwork Accents, S5-059 Ironwork Motifs, E8-001 Classic Scallop, E8-005 Classic Postage Stamp).

I started with the photos of my youngest son. Which is not my normal way of scrapbooking...I always make my pages first and then find photos to fit! But this time, I had these great photos of Jonah and the idea all came from them. Jonah was only about 4 in these photos, and he's nearly 11 now...which shows you that my scrapbooks are in need of some attention!

I loaded the photos into Photoshop and created one large photo, with some text on the bottom, then printed them in a square size. Pretty cool, right? I wanted to use the large circle shapes to mimic the shapes on the blue paper, so used LF-114 Grand Circles, and LF-249 Grand Big Scalloped Circles.

To create the border, I used E8-001 Classic Scallop, E8-005 Classic Postage Stamp Edgeabilities die templates.

I used the edger from the Classic Scallop set and the circles decorative insert from the Classic Postage Stamp set. I love how all of the NEW Edgeabilities are interchangeable! (For more information, visit the Spellbinders website.)

I taped the edger and the decorative insert to my cardstock, then cut and embossed with the Grand Calibur machine. Easy peasy! I tape everything down so that it won't slide around on me. I'm a bit of a klutz, so better safe than sorry!

For the other decorative elements, I used the NEW S5-058 Ironwork Accents, S5-059 Ironwork Motifs templates. All of the Accents and Motifs die sets are AMAZING!

And there you have it! One scrapbook page...priceless!

Supply List:
Spellbinders Supplies: S4-116 Standard Circles SM, S5-058 Ironwork Accents, S5-059 Ironwork Motifs, E8-001 Classic Scallop, E8-005 Classic Postage Stamp, LF-114 Grand Circles, LF-249 Grand Big Scalloped Circles,Grand Calibur Die Cutting Machine
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics, American Crafts
Designer paper: My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose
Ink: Clearsnap ColorBox Chalk Deep Lagoon; Black Zig pen
Embellishments: Buttons, twine
Adhesive: Glue Dots, Scotch 3M ATG, liquid glue

Graphic45 and Want2Scrap Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Graphic45 and Want2Scrap joint blog hop! (See the list below to hop to all of the designers' blogs and see their fantastic creations!)

To celebrate the hop, Want2Scrap and Graphic 45 are giving away some prizes!  Random drawings will be made from the comments made on the Graphic45 and Want2Scrap Designers blogs during the week-long hop! Plus two random winners will be picked from the Graphic45 and Want2Scrap Facebook pages! So visit the designers, and leave a comment!

As an added bonus, if you comment here on my blog post, I'll also be doing a drawing! One lucky person will win a prize from me! All you have to do is leave a comment!

Here is the creation I made for you:

I made a 5x5 card, of course! I know this is not as fancy as the projects you've been seeing from the rest of the Graphic45 team, but...you know I had to make a card!!! (ETA: by "fancy" I mean "detailed" as I did not make a mini album, or an altered art piece, etc. I "just" made a card...but that's what I do! hee hee)

I love pearls, and Want2Scrap sure has loads of them to choose from! For this card I used white pearl swirls. I cut the sections apart and used them on the card to accent the image and the flowers.

The image is from Hampton Art/Graphic45 set called Vintage Ladies. I stamped the image and colored her with Copics. I used Graphic45 Curtain Call papers for the card. The teal accents look amazing with this paper line!

The fabbie crochet flower is from Prima, but I added a Want2Scrap large pearl to the center.

I hope you enjoyed hopping to my blog! Make sure to leave a comment for your chance to win a prize!
