Facebook Fan Page

I have created a Facebook Fan Page where I will be posting all of my scrappy goodness. This is another way for folks to stay connected with my work, plus it allows me to return my Facebook page to a personal page, rather than a papercrafting page. Please go to the new page and "Like" it to join!

Over the next week I will be "unfriending" people who are papercrafting connections. If you are a Blog Follower and find yourself "unfriended" from my Facebook page, please do not be upset. I am simply trying to separate my personal Facebook account from my public, papercrafting work. Plus, I want to allow more people to have access to my creations. I don't feel I can open my Facebook page up to the public! With a Fan Page, you can see all of my work and creative posts!

If you are a Blog Follower or a Networked Blog Follower, or follow me in another way through this blog, NOTHING will change! But you may still come and "Like" the new Fan Page!

Graphic 45 Tutorials

Happy Wednesday everyone! I am attempting to get myself organized, with respect to tutorials. I have a bunch of PDF tutorials just sitting around on my computer, collecting cyber dust, and I want to start sharing them. I had no idea how to do that, but my awesome Graphic 45 Teamies (thanks Alberto and Jim) helped me out! I will share tutorials here on the blog, and then add them to my tutorial tab at the top of the blog.

This tutorial is actually a class I taught a few years ago. I do NOT have any kits, but you should be able to make the project with things you have on hand. The mini album is a Kaisercraft album, called Antique Tags. You can find the album HERE.

Click the title below, and it will take you to the step-by-step tutorial. You can print it or read it online.

The Great Glue Debate!

I have had a love/hate relationship with glue ever since First Grade, when the art teacher plopped a big glob of paste in front of me! I hated that stuff! I am sure it came in this container! (Not really. It came in a large, plastic jar.)

Today, you can't find paste. I did find this small jar of Elmer's Washable School Paste, but every site was "out of stock." Too bad...not! This stuff never held anything together. Remember trying to glue things with it? The project would come unglued before art class was over. Or, halfway to the bus, the glue would let go and then your project would fall into a puddle! (Don't give me that look. You know it happened to you!)

But I think schools buy glue these days...  Check it out! It says "new stronger formula!" Hooorah!

We homeschool, so the kids use whatever adhesive I have on hand. I am always searching for that perfect adhesive. But, the glue is winning! On my desk, in my tool bag, and in the drawer of my desk are the following:

Hot glue gun
Two 3M ATG dispensers (yes, two! I want holsters for them!)
Thermoweb Zots - small and large
Masking tape
Scotch tape
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L - foam squares in two sizes
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L - EZ Runner tape runner
3M foam tape - large roll from the hardware store
Glue Dots - Craft and mini sizes, plus a Dot n Go dispenser, and 3D dots
Scor Tape in two sizes - 1/8 and 1/4 inches
Aleene's Tacky Glue
White glue - this is from my LSS and I am not sure the brand. They bottle it with the store name.
Hampton Art Glue Gloss
Hampton Art glue pad
Beacon - Zip Dry and Fabri-tac
Ranger Glossy Accents
Zig Memory System 2-Way Glue
Tombow Glue Pen
Tombow Mono Adhesive Runner - permanent and vellum
Elmer's Dot Runner, plus some Elmer's brand adhesive dots
Copic Xpress It tape
Glubers - several sizes
Red Line Tape
Glue Glider foam squares

That is what is handy. I have another bin of adhesive in the closet, plus I have three sizes of Xyron! And I have refills of all my favorites! I also have a bin of...."not loving this glue so much but cannot toss it out"! And a bin that I gave to the kids to use!

I need an adhesive intervention!

Design Team Box Reveals!

I have two videos for you to watch today. I am brand new at making videos, hence they are not that great. I do hope to get better, however I have a little Flip camera and the quality is not super, plus I don't have the battery pack and the thing eats AA batteries like crazy! (Is that enough excuses?!)

Initially, I had mixed feelings about doing "reaveal" videos. I did not want to seem like I was bragging about what my design teams send me. On the other hand, these manufacturers do a great job at supplying their teams, and they should be recognized for that. Some people like seeing these reveals, some people hate them. If you are a lover, watch. If you are a hater, just click out and ignore it. {smile}

First up is my box from Graphic 45. I get a quarterly box from G45, plus if they have a new release or a special set of projects I will get extra boxes. Graphic 45 is so generous that I cannot believe how much they send me every year. Since this is my third year with them, I have really been spoiled!

Somehow I lost the bit of video where I share the May Arts Ribbons! Now sure what I did. We got an amazing bag of ribbons!

Next is my Hampton Art Stamps box. This one is also filled with product. This is my first official design team box from Hampton Art. It's pretty amazing!

Enjoy the show! {giggle}

Happy Birthday, Aimee!

Happy Birthday, Aimee Filimoehala

Aimee is the Graphic 45 Director of Operations! She works hard behind the scenes to bring us all the fantastic Graphic 45 products! Aimee, this steampunk hat cake is for you!

I did not make the cake. I don't "do" cakes. But I did make this card!

I combined Graphic 45 Curtain Call, Once Upon a Springtime, and Little Darlings papers for this project. (Aimee, if you are reading this, the actual card will be in the mail to you... late... since I never send cards on time!)

Every time I see Aimee, she is smiling. She is such a sweetie and so kind to the design team. (Granted, she probably smiles because she does not have to deal with us on a regular basis like Charee does!) Anyway, I used the "sending smiles" stamp because it made me think of Aimee. I also made Aimee one of  my "famous" flowers! {wink}

Here is the inside of the card.

And a small flower. I will need a special envelope to mail this card, but Aimee is worth it.
Graphic 45 8x8 papers:
Curtain Call: Top Billing, Moulin Rouge, Tour de France

Hampton Art Stamps Design Team Introduction

Today is my day to be introduced on the Hampton Art Stamps blog. (Yay me!) I am so excited to be part of Hampton Art's very first design team! I started designing samples for Hampton Art about 1 1/2 years ago. I make things for the sales team to use in stores, at shows, in the catalogs, and so on. When they decided they wanted to start a design team they asked me if I would try out for that as well. Naturally, I said, "Sure!"

Hampton Art is sending the DT a nice package of products to play with and we were all asked to do a video or photo shoot of our packages. My package is not due here in California until Wednesday, so I have made a video of my Clearsnap package instead. (This is my very first video, so be nice!)

Hampton Art Stamps is a distributor of Clearsnap products, therefore the DT was asked to pick a bunch of things that we wanted to work with. Since I have been working with Hampton Art (and a few other companies who are Clearsnap partners) for a while, I already have a nice pile of goodies! As you will see.

This is a 9 minute video. Sorry about that. I am just learning! It was fun to play with my Flip video camera and Windows Movie Maker! I will get better, I promise!

Here is a layout I made using Clearsnap products and 7Gypsies stamps from Hampton Art Stamps.

I love my "go to" Smooch Spritz colors - Spun Sugar and Black Velvet!

Thanks for stopping by. Come back later in the week and I will have another video and a winner from my Blog Re-Design Blog Candy post!

Scrapbook and Stamp Society Guest DT

A few months ago I received an email from Heather at Scrapbook and Stamp Society asking if I was interested in joining their scrapbooking design team. Sadly, I did not have space in my schedule for another full-time team, but I asked if I could do a guest spot. Heather and Sherri said yes and sent me a few digital stamps to work with.

Here is one of the cards I made, using the Morgan Fitzsimons 1920's Hat 2 Digi Stamp.

I printed the image onto Copic Xpress It white cardstock and colored it with Copics. (I use an Epson photo printer to print most of my digital stamps.)

The beauty of digital stamps is that you can print them in whatever size you want. I wanted this one to fit a Spellbinders circle die template, so sized it on the smaller side. I think it is a 2 1/2 inch circle.

The next stamp is called Morgan Fitzsimons 8A Little Girl. This image reminds me of the March girls in Little Women or the Ingalls girls in Little House on the Prairie!

I colored the image with Copics, then realized that the feel of the card was more winter than spring! {However, when we lived in the "snow belt" this is how we dressed for spring!} Well, I am not one to waste all that coloring!

I rooted through my vast stash of supplies and came upon some Flower Soft. I have never used this product before. Ok, truth time...I once opened one of the packages, and Flower Soft went everywhere, so I closed the package and never touched that stuff again!

I like to think I am not afraid of anything (except bugs and other assorted creepy crawlies), so I pulled out the package and used it on this card! I created flowers on the tree, bush, and in the basket! Super cool. And Flower Soft was really easy to work with once I got over the fact that it does seems to "grow" when you open the package!

You simply put down some glue, (I used some really sticky white glue that I had on my desk) and sprinkle the Flower Soft over the glue. I gently pressed the "fluff" into the glue. The hardest part is waiting for the glue to set! I used a toothpick to put down my glue and push the Flower Soft around until it looked the way I wanted.

I had the perfect stamp for the inside of the card! This is my reason for having so many stamps...you need a lot of stamps to make sure you always have the perfect stamp! {grin}

I want to thank Scrapbook and Stamp Society for letting me be a guest designer! I had a lot of fun!

Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge #46

Time once again for the Really Reasonable Ribbon Challenge! This week the challenge calls for a project that is black, white, and one color...with ribbon.

Silly me, I did black, white, red for the last challenge. And then turned around and did it all over again for today! How can you go wrong with black, white, red?!

I used 1 1/4 inch wide Black Silk and 5/8 inch Red Sheer with Satin Stripes ribbons. When the light hits the satin/sheer ribbon, it sparkles!

I colored the image with Copic markers and added some Stickles to the diamond. My friend Melody is on the My Favorite Things DT, and she shares her stamps with me, lucky girl that I am!

A note about the sentiment: I stamp my sentiments, then line up the die templates, and tape them down with low tack painter's tape. Once the die template is taped to the paper, I cut, emboss, stencil. This way my sentiment is in the correct place within the die cut every time. Make sure to use a low tack tape or your paper will tear.

Make sure you stop by the RRR store and see what new goodies are up for grabs! Bonnie has all new twine, plus jute and burlap trims! I saw the trims at CHA and thought they were FANTASTIC!

Re-runs Rule!

If you are looking for the Really Reasonable April Blog Hop, click HERE.

If you are looking for my blog candy give away to celebrate the blog face lift, click HERE.

If you are looking for some cards made with fantastic Graphic 45 papers, read on!

I have a few re-run cards to share today. These have been seen here on the blog before, but Graphic 45 wanted to do a card showcase today and wanted something to share on their blog, so I said they could resurrect these beauties!

I mixed Le' Romantique with Curtain Call to make this Paris-themed card. The ribbon was white, but I used Copic markers to color the satin ribbon to match the paper. I colored the pins, too!

This cutie card uses An ABC Primer papers and stamps. This is my favorite, favorite line from Graphic 45.

This card was just revealed for the Page Maps March newsletter. Again, this is the An ABC Primmer collection.

Fabbie buttons!

To make the "doilies" in the center of the card, I cut the shapes with a Spellbinders die templates (Picot Edge Circles, Iron Work Motifs), then sprayed them with Clearsnap Smooch Spritz.

The cameo is made from three layers of chipboard. I inked the fancy oval chipboard with bronze pigment ink, then added several layers of clear embossing powder to make a glossy finish. I used the same technique on the silhouette, only I inked with sapphire silk pigment ink. To create the center chipboard oval, I covered it with patterned paper, then used chalk ink to soften the edges.
Graphic 45 papers:
Le' Romantique: My Beloved, Loves Labyrinth, Key to My Heart
Curtain Call: Tour de France, Moulin Rouge, Applause
An ABC Primer: Alphabet Soup, Games and Playtime, An ABC Primer, Jumping Joan, Building Blocks, Grammar School, The Three R's
Steampunk Debutante: Fantasy Floral
Graphic 45 Stamps: An ABC Primer Cling 2
Other Stamps: Waltzing Mouse Fancy Phrases (inside of card)

Die cutting system: Spellbinder Grand Calibur, Classic Rectangles LG, Classic Scalloped Rectangles LG, Office Supplies, Nested Lacey Pennants, Nested Pennants, Standard Circles Small, Standard Circles Large, Picot Edge Circles, Ironwork Motifs

Cardstock: American Crafts, Neenah, Stampin' Up

Ink: Clearsnap Colorbox Graphic 45 Decades Antiquing Ink Photogenic, Venetian Lace; Clearsnap Smooch Spritz (spun sugar, tea party), Clearsnap Colorbox Chalk (butterscotch, chestnut roan), Clearsnap Colorbox Pigment (sapphire silk, bronze); Copic markers; Memento Tuxedo Black

Pins: Maya Road

Really Reasonable Ribbon April Blog Hop!

The April Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog Hop is extra special this month! We are teaming up with the girls over at The Rubber Cafe for twice the fun! Start your hop at The Rubber Cafe Blog, and then visit all the designers, ending with the RRR Blog!

There will be two prizes offered on the blog hop – one on the RRR blog and one on The Rubber Café Blog.  Prizes winners will be selected randomly from comments.

You should be coming to my blog from the blog of my "real life" friend, Karen (By Design), who is also doing this hop as part of the Rubber Cafe team! Karen and I have been friends for about 6 years. We live near each other and are  both part of a crafty group which gets together monthly. This is Karen's first DT and first hop...so make sure to leave her some love!

Check out the RRR April Ribbon Club! Lots of spring colors!

Here is the card I made for the hop, using the amazing Rubber Cafe stamps and luscious RRR ribbons!

I stamped the Grater Floral stamp in brown ink and colored it with Copic markers. I like this stamp because you can color the flowers in colors to make it work for three of the four seasons! I colored mine with soft, spring colors, to match the ribbon. The sentiment is also a Rubber Cafe stamp, called Fabulous Phrases.

I used ribbons from the RRR April Ribbon Club to create my rolled roses. I use Glubers and Beacon Fabri-tac glue to make my roses. With some types of ribbon, the Glubers dots are not enough adhesive to hold the roses together.

I added a pearl to the center of each rose, and then tiny pearls to my sentiment block.

Happy spring! And enjoy the hop!

Next, hop over to Michelle's Blog (Inspiration Blooms).

Drum Roll, Please!

It has been several years since I have changed the look of my blog. I worked hard on my last blog and was very proud of it and liked the style. But...I have been ready for a change for some time now. I had been seeing some blogs that I loved - vintage style, but still clean and easy to read. I wanted something similar!

I tracked down the designer of these lovely blogs, Viola Mahr (Sunshine: Just a Little Handmade Happiness). Viola is a college student, designer, crafter, living in Singapore! She's adorable, smart, talented, and just an all around sweetheart! Viola designed my banner and all of my graphics. Once she had that all finished, I loaded everything and got the blog to look like I wanted. I am happy that I know enough about Blogger and HTML code to deal with the "geek" part of this adventure!

I gave Viola a lot of information to enable her to design for me. My main inspiration comes from this scrapbook layout I made. I never showed this to Viola, but this is what I had in the back of my mind when I was talking to her! (It would have been much easier on both of us if I had realized that this was my inspiration and shared the layout!)

This morning when I was trying to find a project to share to introduce the new blog look, I remembered this project that I made as part of the Simple Stories DT call last month. (I did not make the DT, but that's ok. No hard feelings!) When I pulled this layout up I just laughed. It is my new blog look almost to a "T"! I am impressed that Vi pulled off the design without ever seeing these photos. She really asked the right questions and I shared the right information!

One of my main issues with my old blog was that the 3-column layout did not allow for my photos to be big enough. My projects contain a lot of small details that I wanted you to be able to see. I want my photos to be fairly large. The 2-column style works for this. It's hard to get used to after having a 3-column for so long...but we'll manage! Right?!

Are you noticing all the lovely Imaginarium Designs chipboard items? I am hoping that I will soon have good news for those of you wanting to buy these in the USA! For now, you can have them shipped from Australia. Click HERE for information.

I am so happy with my new blog design. If you want to make a comment about the new look, I will draw a random name and give away a prize...of some Imaginarium Designs chipboard items! And some fantastic ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon, and a few flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts. How do you feel about that?!!
